The frame is hand engraved and contains a glass-enclosed braided portion of human hair—typical of 19th-century mourning jewelry traditions.
The garnets display a medium tone, slightly purplish-red hue, with moderate saturation. They are well-finished, showing fair polish, symmetry, and proportions. The entire brooch has a high-polish finish and is structurally secured with a joint and pin assembly in a slightly curved form.
