Antique Painted Bronze Crucifix

This antique bronze crucifix is painted silver, giving it a shiny appearance. The cross to which the body of Christ is attached features five-petaled roses. In Roman-Catholic tradition, five-petaled roses stand for the five piercing wounds Jesus Christ suffered during his crucifixion. The base of the crucifix is decorated with stylized leaves. Besides the crown of thorns, a halo is marked on the cross behind Christ’s head. His nameplate INRI (Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews) is mounted at the top. Height: 16.75 in. Width: 8 in.
