IWC Schaffhausen 18K Yellow Gold Manual Wind Wristwatch – 35mm

CA$3,495.00

An elegant vintage gentleman's wristwatch by the prestigious Swiss watchmaker International Watch Co. (IWC), Schaffhausen, dating to 1959. Crafted in 18-karat yellow gold, this classic mid-century timepiece embodies the understated sophistication and refined craftsmanship for which IWC has long been celebrated.

The watch features a beautifully proportioned 35mm round 18K yellow gold case, complemented by a slim, polished bezel, gracefully curved lugs, and a traditional winding crown. Its timeless design reflects the clean, elegant styling associated with Swiss dress watches of the late 1950s.

The original silver-tone dial displays an attractive, naturally aged patina consistent with its vintage character. Applied Arabic numerals at the 12, 3, 6, and 9 o'clock positions are paired with slender gold-tone baton hour markers and a delicate dotted minute track. Elegant gold-tone dauphine-style hour and minute hands are accompanied by a central sweeping seconds hand.

The dial is signed "International Watch Co." in the company's traditional script, with "Schaffhausen" immediately beneath and "Swiss" at the six o'clock position.

Powered by a traditional Swiss manual-wind mechanical movement, the watch represents an era when fine mechanical watchmaking emphasized precision, craftsmanship, and longevity. The manually wound mechanism is operated using the crown, offering the classic experience of owning and wearing a vintage mechanical timepiece.

The watch is fitted with an aftermarket dark brown crocodile-pattern leather strap, finished with a coordinating gold-tone buckle. The rich brown leather provides an attractive contrast to the warm yellow gold case and complements the watch's traditional styling.

Condition

The watch presents in attractive vintage condition, displaying age-related wear consistent with its approximately 67-year history. The dial retains its appealing original-style appearance, with visible patina, minor spotting, and surface imperfections, particularly around the outer minute track. The gold case exhibits light surface scratches and signs of previous wear, as shown in the accompanying photographs.

Please note that the leather strap and gold-tone buckle are aftermarket replacements and are not original IWC components.
