Large French Gilded 950 Sterling Silver Ciborium - Paris early 20th century.

CA$5,295.00

An impressive and finely executed French ecclesiastical ciborium, crafted in 950-grade sterling silver and richly fire-gilded (vermeil) throughout the interior. This substantial vessel displays high-quality engraving, balanced proportions, and traditional liturgical form, intended for the reservation of the Blessed Sacrament.

The ciborium is raised on a broad circular foot with a stepped stem and knop, supporting a deep hemispherical bowl encircled by an engraved floral frieze. The domed cover is surmounted by a finely modeled Latin cross finial, completing the classic Catholic Eucharistic form. The interior retains its original gilding, applied to protect the sacred contents from contact with silver.
